J&J Packaging has unveiled its contribution to sustainable packaging.
SuSTANDable(TM), a trapped blister card that converts to a standing clamshell-style package will be acceptable to retailers like Wal-Mart who are pushing for sustainable packaging initiatives, the company says.
The package ships flat, which reduces its carbon footprint, and has a billow-like fold on the bottom that converts the blister card into a standing easel that can be used for open shelf or countertop displays.
It can also be made from fully recyclable materials.
The package will reduce theft through the use of tear resistant materials.
J&J expects the packaging to be used by several major consumer product companies by the end of the year.
