Chester Medical Solutions lands licence to pack clinical trials

Pharmaceutical contract packer Chester Medical Solutions is to move into the packing of clinical trials after gaining a licence from the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency last week.

Chester Medical sales director Tammy Williams said the MIA (IMP) Medicines for Human Use licence would let the company provide a "one-stop shop" for the packing of clinical trials through to commercial runs.

The company, which has sites in the Wirral and North Wales, will invest in new machinery, including smaller blister packing equipment, to offer the new service.

Securing the licence is part of an ongoing investment programme to bring all aspects of contract projects in-house.

Chester Medical has also been awarded controlled drug and veterinary licences and achieved ISO 13485 certification for the packing of medical devices.

Managing director David Patterson said: "We look forward to discussing projects and specific requirements with customers old and new."
