Finishing kit manufacturer Buhrs is in the midst of potentially its largest-ever deal, having so far installed six 4700 Film Wrapping Systems at Deutsche Post sites in Germany.
The contract, worth up to £13.6m (€20m), could comprise as many as 20 machines.
The first half-dozen systems have been fitted at Deutsche Post's Schwerte site, with Buhrs anticipating further orders for other plants in the near future.
The Deutsche Post deal is part of its plan to grow capacity for unaddressed retail and promotional mail and TV guides.
The roll-out, which started in June, will help the postal company triple its unaddressed mail capacity.
The 4700 Film Wrapping System features 19 feeders per system, which automatically synchronise to different product sizes. Changeover between jobs takes place while the system is still running.
The integrated system control is based on the Siemens Simotion platform and is supported by Siemens master drives, an operator panel and the Buhrs System Controller.
