Print and packaging specialist BLP has helped Virgin Mobile adopt more environmentally friendly SIM card and mobile phone packaging.
Tyne and Wear-based BLP has worked with Virgin to develop sustainable practices accredited by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) for paper stocks, printing inks, sealants and logistics.
Virgin's packs will carry the FSC-accredited logo, confirming the board used comes from sustainable or recycled sources.
Vegetable-based inks have also been widely adopted to reduce the amount of potentially harmful printing chemicals.
Virgin Mobile commercial director Jonathan Kini said: "The team at BLP are providing a practical and integrated solution in our quest for sustainable printing and logistics."
BLP has worked with Virgin Mobile for over six years, producing all the telecommunication firm's own-brand packaging.
