Printers have scooped two of 11 regional awards for the British Chambers of Commerce Green Awards.
Brighton-based print-management company Four Corners and Shaftesbury-based B1 printer Blackmore both came out tops from hundreds of applications for the South East and South West regions respectively.
They will go on to the grand final and the chance to win the £25,000 prize at a ceremony held at the V&A museum on 29 November.
The Green Award is a new category for 2007 and the awards have been opened up to all businesses for the first time, rather than limited to those accredited to the British Chambers of Commerce.
Four Corners was commended for the implementation of its green initiatives. Four Corners director Lena Johansson is also responsible for setting up the Responsible Print accreditation – an umbrella logo demonstrating the holder has met a range of green criteria.
Johansson said: "Winning this award is really very exciting for us. We are thrilled that our work to help businesses reduce their environmental impact has been recognised and hope it acts as an inspiration to others that are looking to make similar changes."
Blackmore claims to be in the top 1% of the greenest printers in the UK.
