FAG Graphic Systems will use Drupa to launch a device for producers of pharmaceutical packaging that reads Braille text.
The supplier of sheet inspection systems and densitometers, based in Lausanne, Switzerland, said the FAG BrailleScan could read text measuring up to 40x120mm at a top speed of 120 metres a minute.
The machine's sensor reads the Braille, translates it into plain text and compares it with text previously entered by the operator.
"Based on a processing time of 200 metres a second, around five labels or similar products can be evaluated," the firm said.
The FAG BrailleScan will be demonstrated on the new FAG MBP inspection line for folding boxes, which consists of a feeder with pre-piling facilities, a process table and two deliveries for sorting and separating faulty products. The machine operates at speeds of up to 150 metres a minute.
FAG will be on stand A21 in Hall 9 of the Messe Düsseldorf.
Drupa 2008 runs from 29 May to 11 June 2008.
