Sussex print merger creates £20m litho and digital operation

Two leading Sussex print companies have agreed to merge to form a single £20m-turnover operation.

Shoreham-based Gemini Group and Hove's Beard Digital are set to join up in a deal described as offering growth opportunities to both sides.

Gemini managing director Nigel Holmes said the agreement "makes perfect commercial sense".

"It would expand the group's offer of digital print capabilities, resulting in a huge upturn in business for both companies."

The addition of Beard Digital to the group will add digital capabilities as well as enhancing finishing solutions.

Beard Digital managing director Julie Beard said the merger would expand the company's reach from regional to national. Gemini Group already owns 11 companies across the south of the UK.

"This is an exciting time for all involved," she said.

Financial information on the transaction was not disclosed, but a spokesperson said that there would be no redundancies.

The combined entity will employ 220 and expects to grow its head count yet further.

Staff at Beard Digital's Hove facility will move to Shoreham-By-Sea, close to Gemini's headquarters, and the premises at Hove will then be rented out.
